A$216m Kakadu makeover to boost visitor numbers, jobs

Australia’s Kakadu National Park is set for a A$216 million upgrade designed to lure more visitors and drive more investment and jobs to the Territory.

The neighbouring township of Jabiru will also receive support to make the transition to a tourism-based economy.


World Heritage-listed Kakadu currently attracts some 261,000 visitors each year.


Now camping grounds are to be upgraded, roads improved, as are walking tracks, viewing platforms, signage, mobile and wifi services.
