UK tourism threatened as Spain digs in over Gibraltar

UK tourists could need a GBP52 visa to travel to the EU after March 29 due to a fresh argument over the status of British overseas territory Gibraltar.
Other EU member states have agreed to exempt UK nationals from requiring a visa to travel to continental Europe after Brexit, but Spain wants the legislation to include a footnote describing Gibraltar as a 'British colony'.

However, this was rejected by the European parliament.

If the other member states fail to convince Spain to soften its stance, there will be no visa exemption for UK travellers to the EU after March 29.

This might mean they have to apply for a Schengen visa, which costs EUR60 and takes up to three weeks to process.
